Wildflowers of the Cascades


This is one of my favorite times of the year to do field work! While driving and hiking to many of our remote camera trap locations, we are surrounded by beautiful wildflowers. They appear as vibrant and exciting sparks of color against the Cascades' ever green Douglas firs and lichen. Late in the summer, many of these flowers produce berries that feed the wildlife we see on camera. Not only are some of these fruit important resources for wildlife, thimbleberry and huckleberry are tasty treats for humans, too!
